Haul Truck Operator

Day-to-day duties

• Operate CAT 793/797 or Komatsu 830E/930E haul trucks
• Pre-start inspections and refuelling
• Follow spot instructions from shovel/loader operators
• Report defects to maintenance
• Comply with all traffic management rules

Requirements

• HR truck licence (12+ months)
• White Card
• Standard 11 induction
• Clean D&A screen
• Ability to work 12h day/night shifts

Training pathway

• Site-specific truck familiarisation (2–5 days)
• Simulator time before live pit work
• Ongoing verification of competency (VOC)

Career outlook

Highest-volume entry role in the Pilbara. Autonomous haulage (AHS) is reducing headcount at Rio and FMG but manned trucks still dominate at BHP and mid-tier producers.
